The Simpsons is an American animated sitcom created by Matt Groening. The Simpson family, Homer, Marge and their sons Bart, Lisa, and Maggie lives in the fictional town of Springfield and parodies every aspect of the American culture and society.
Debuting on December 1989, The Simpsons is the longest-running American animated series, the longest-running American sitcom, and the longest-running American primetime television series. The Simpsons has influenced many other later adult-oriented animated sitcoms. Homer’s exclamatory catchphrase of “D’oh!” has been even adopted into the English language.
The Simpsons received acclaim mostly in its early 90s seasons, which are generally considered the “golden age” of the series. Time magazine named The Simpsons the 20th century’s best television series. On January 14, 2000, the Simpson family was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
